Im really confused at the moment!

Just started playing with my N95.. and I put in the 1gb sd card that you get from O2.. And apparently the UK map is already loaded into there?

However.. I cant find them! When I go on Maps.. it says there are no maps loaded. When I browse the memory card via the PC.. I cant really see anything that looks like the maps!

Please help!

Also.. if the maps are not on the card for some reason.. Has anyone got a step by step guide of how to start using the GPS ?.. Ive read so many things and its just confusing me even more

Thanks!

Hi you need to download the maps free of charge. You need to activate your GPS and let it locate your position then with the GPS application running connect to the internet (WiFI best option here if available) and the software will download the maps for you for your area...

So the maps on the O2 sd card are useless?

Also.. will I need to phone O2 to get settings to access WIFI?.. because I keep getting the message 'internet connection not available'

It sounds like there are no maps pre-installed on the card, did O2 advise they came with these?

To access wifi you just need to define an access point in your settings...

Do you have WiFi at home? Do you know the settings ie. WEP or WPA/PSK security settings?

To set up access point on your phone...

goto,

'Tools'
'Settings'
'Connection'
'Access points'
click options
select new access point

Here is where you enter your router settings...

Connection name is anything you want to call this connection on your phone, mine is 'Home'

Data bearer, click and change this to Wireless LAN

WLAN network name, this is your SSID that was set up on your router, this must be exactly the same and is case sensitive

Network status, I left mine as public

WLAN security mode, select the option you have set up on your router, normally WEP or WPA

WLAN security settings, enter your WEP key or PSK

Finally set up your homepage, I use Google

Exit out of the set up and go back to your main screen and select the WLAN icon on your active desktop, this should find your home network providing you are in range and then select start web browsing...

When you set up your home WiFi router you have the choice of secured or unsecured. Hopefully you have gone secured, if so there are 2 main types of security either WEP or WPA. When these were set up you will have entered a password (alpha/numerical) this is the one you need for your phone (sorry, multimedia computer :-))

If you have not set up a secured network then there is no need to do this stage on your N95 but I would advise changing this to secured or getting somebody to do this for you as your home computer may be at risk!

Ok done it! Thanks alot for your help mate.. Is there anyway I could talk to you over MSN or something?.. easier that way.. PM me?

Thanks one more.. really appreciate your help this thing was driving me crazy!
