You can download them from here but remember you need to sign them first

http://hx-custom-roms.com/?page_id=2617

there we have the n8 goodies section for:

30fps hd video
100% max photo quality ie images are 11mb

97 % max quality for photo (max. 4-5 MB file size on 12 Mpixel) and 30 fps for 720p

you can also install the third sis file and that will enable you to switch between 25fps and 30fps by activating low light mode in video settings , the 3rd sis also enables faster zoom in speeds and also an extra 4th zoom stage instead of just 3 stages

i installed the hyper x mod and i noticed that when i tried taking pictures of a bright red tree, i kept getting the unexpected error has occurred message and it wouldnt save the pic, anyone else experience this?

I'd wait for Nokia to release a firmware update that can actually capture 30 FPS consistently. That would be better than some "hack" that advertises 30 FPS when you really get more dropped frames instead.

You can not just put 30 into some text file and expect it to really improve the video capture process. You probably need to improve the camera driver, video codec, or some other part of the pipeline too.

A consistent 24 FPS is good enough for me. Wasn't 24 FPS good enough for big screen movie theatres for years and years?

Have you tried it? Video is definitely smoother with the 30fps hack and there are no dropped frames at all. It's just a sis file : if you see no improvement or change your mind just uninstall it.

Haha, good point. I have not tried it. Glad that you're happy with the changes.

Update Central Repository with care. Does uninstalling a SIS patch for the Central Repository really undo the changes? The text file that gets dumped into the private directory gets processed into binary input. "Uninstalling" that text file later probably does nothing. That's why there is another "hack" SIS offered to return the original settings.

It seems to undo any changes. I originally installed the 100% quality hack which gave 11mb photo files and removed it due to the time it took to bluetooth multiple files. File sizes returned to 1-1.5 mb.

The HyperX mod is great. Tried it on my N8 and the quality of the videos are outstanding. Just be sure to not select stabilization if there is fast moving objects. So far really pleased!

The only tricky part is signing the sis file before installing. If you need help PM me, it is not hard at all.

Have you had any problems with bright reds, it seems like my camera application crashes when I take a pictures of some reds. I think the file size is just too big, I had to settle with the 97% resolution hack

Is anyone else noticing a loss of quality in low light with the hyperx mod? Or is it just me. I compared a few samples with and without and I noticed more noise in the ones using the hyperx mod. I'm wondering how good this compression algorithm is compared to Nokia's?

Hmmm

Yeaahhh. I did notice a slight change in low light indoors with no flash. Seems more grainy than before. I have the 100% hack btw.

New custom firmware released.

If a device is hackable I usually employ the hack, but in the case of the camera hack I'm going to wait for Nokia to bump up the specs. Seeing as it has been proven to be do able and not a bad job either I bet Nokia rises to the challenge and does it proper. Not taking away from the hacker and his/her skills but the reality is Nokia has a better oversight of the software and hardware involved and therefor I see them as being the best ones to do the job. For all we know Nokia knew the specs could be bumped up from day one but where waiting to include it in a FW update thereby increasing their brand value etc.
