Nokia N8 for $449.00 at Dell

Welcome to HoFo! :buddies:

The N8 Dell deal has been around for 3 days. Honestly I almost pulled the trigger on it, but I know that I'm going to be disappointed with this phone until they get the new browser and do something with the portrait keyboard.

Once they get that straightened out (or drop a hint on when it's coming) I'll probably pull the trigger on the next sale... :)

Wirelessly posted (HTC Nexus One: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; zh-tw; Nexus One Build/FRG83) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Am I missing something?
When I go there, the price goes back up to $550.

Give this link a try... :)

EDIT: Just removed link since the DEAL IS OVER!

Right after I posted the updated link, Dell posted the OOS Message. Probably won't be too long before the next one shows up...

You won't be disappointed. It has THE BEST build quality, excellent call quality/RF, Top notch cam, great GPS, excellent speaker and the phone is very stable unlike any of the Nokias I have owned before including N72! UI is much better(than S60v5) & is usable now! MFE is much quicker than E72! You can't go wrong, give it a try :)

I see myself getting the N8 down the road, but I'm all too familiar with Nokia's default browser and I'm not sure if I want yet another phone rocking Opera or Skyfire (Like I have on the e71/72/N97) since I refuse to use Nokia's current version. (Lack of) Portrait QWERTY isn't helping either.

I'm far from an Android fanboy, but it's holding me over as a backup device while the N8 gets updated, but the N8 is still definitely on my radar for picking up down the road... :)

I'm with you; I might re-consider, but first I need to see the software updates coming, and on the double too. Having a new browser mosey its way along in three months, along with not fixing the social integration which I hear nothing but pans about, is going to kill this device (and the E7 and the C6).

Opera and Skyfire aren't solutions, because they can't be used as the default to open widgets or links from RSS feeds, email, FB, Twitter, etc.

I give up! I called Nokia again and tried to get 10% off. I must be the worst haggler since Brian in "Life of Brian", I tried to do some small talk for a couple of minutes. All I got in the end was "We have no current promotion Sir and I can't give you 10% off."

Man I want this phone now, in blue or silver. To you who have the silver, is it good looking?

^ lol i tried too. the guy told me that they were giving it out last week, but not anymore. don't know how true this is. i guess he admitted it, so that counts for something

i have to agree with this, i got it on the dell deal also was delivered today, i was able ti use an expired 15% coupon so it was $388.00 before tax and 415.00 total was to good to let go, even though i still have a trial n8 in my possesion

On the first page once you get to the site there is a little banner saying "chat with an associate" almost immediately that blinks for a few seconds under the green frames at the top. Or you could just hang out and browse around, for instance select buy now will take you to the page where you can add it to the cart and if you wait there a couple of minutes there should be a popup box.

I was able to get the 10% deal over at NokiaUSA website last week and its shipped. I also preordered the N8 over at ShopBLT a month ago and its also shipped. Both of them are silver. I didn't expect ShopBLT to ship mine so I was going to cancel until I logged in and saw a tracking # via FedEX

I will get both on Wednesday but will open the ShopBLT one first to make sure its a silver one. I'm willing to sell the NokiaUSA Silver one for what I paid for, $537. If nobody wants it, I will return it to NokiaUSA for a full refund.
