Ok since I own the V3xx I figured people that have used both of these phones can give a pros and cons. Here are some areas to start with which you can build off.

Size
Weight
Screen
Battery Life
Features
Email, POP3, etc
Signal
Problems
Etc

to start things off the v3xx has a horrible operating system compared to symbian.

you cannot compare these phones at all. the n75 is a smartphone while the v3xx is a pos phone.

use the search button.

Thank you for the first reply. I wanted to hear from anyone and everyone with experience with both phones before I decided to jump to the N75. Reading the forum about the N75 there has been a lot of mixed feelings on it. I love smartphones and love flips which getting the best of both worlds is hard to find. So if anyone can also compare the Nokia N75 to a microsoft smartphone would be great. Thanks for all the feedback to come.

lol sorry for being mean in my 1st post. but I do not have the n75, i have an n73 that i use on cingular. it runs pretty much the same OS as the n75.

I have tried WinMo before and HATED it. random freezing, lockups, hard to find things. The reason i like s60 is that the developers decided, hey lets make a phone OS that is a smartphone that puts the Phone Feature First. Once you try s60 you will love it. i have had a few converts that used to be all for PALM or SE phones or even WinMo try S60 and loved it.

Although i cannot help you with the n75, i do not believe that you can go wrong with it regardless of what people state online. The batterylife might suck compared to a Sony but you have to remember you are using a Smartphone. I am willing to bet that the batter lasts ATLEAST one day. my n73 will last 2 days at minimum.
The phones OS is its main selling point (and 3g). And believe me when i tell you S60 > *. (i do not consider myself a fanboy, i have used a bunch of phones and s60 just dominates all other OS's) although i have heard that WinMo6 is suppose to be alright, i still dont like the look.

and to address your original questions you prolly can find answers in the sticky up top.

Size-x
Weight-x
Screen - From the specs of what i read online it looks somewhat comparable to the n73 screen and i cannot stress enough how AWESOME THIS SCREEN REALLY IS.
Battery Life- read post up
Features - S60. http://s60.com
Email, POP3, etc - All kinds (if the built in client does not support it, a 3rd party app will, like profimail.
Signal - Nokias are known for EXCELLENT SIGNAL.
Problems -x
Etc - SYMBIAN S60.

I also will agree that Symbian S60 is far better than what Motorola has in the V3xx but as a long time Windows Mobile user I can say that both have advantages and disadvantages.
As far as Symbian being more stable compared to WM5 I can't agree on that. My WM5 has crashed just as much as my E62 with Symbian S60. Just a few days ago when I was browsing the internet my e62 froze on me and I had to take the battery out for a reset.
As far as internet browsing goes the Symbian is hands down the best I have ever used. Second would go to Opera (not Mini).

Size: V3xx, thinner
Weight:V3xx lighter
Screen, N75, but he V3xx screen is beautiful too. Just not as much. The N75 is about the best there is. Period.
Battery Life: V3xx
Features:N75
Email, POP3, etc: N75
Signal:hmm, toss. I like both. But I would have to say the V3xx slight advantage.
Problems:N75, so far. Too many to list. The V3xx is virtually problem free right now.

Etc:Apples and Oranges. Depends on what you are looking for in a phone and what are your needs. I own both and I tend to use the V3xx as of right now because it is easier to use and is basically mindless in it's operation. It is that easy to use. If you need a phone first get the V3xx. If you need a PDA first get the N75. The N75 functions well as a phone also. No knock on it there. It is just that in my opinion the V3xx is better in that department. Is the V3xx OS a smartphone, no. But it functions well and is very, very easy to use and to find whatever allot easier than the N75. The N75 is easy to use also, just not as much. One down click on the D pad and send and I am calling my wife without even looking on the V3xx. You can only program so many speed dials on any phone, contacts on a phone are the most used on any phone. And the V3xx is the easiest I have used on any in quite awhile.

The V3xx is not the most feature rich phone out there, but even though it is limited in it's features compared to a smartphone, everything it does, it does very, very well. With any smartphone since it is more capable device, you are bound to have issues just because it has more features and more that can go wrong. The V3xx not as much. That goes with any smartphone compared to any regular phone. But the lines are blurring in that department also. That is the main reason why I say apples and oranges.

Where can i buy the N75? I checked out 3 stores today in the Chicagoland area. None said that they have had any in stock yet. Where should i go and what is the cost Without a contract renewal since I just did it with the V3xx?

I would say V3xx wins hands down unless you need the smartphone features of a N75. Personally I hate flip phone smart phones - if i need a PDA i'd much prefer my blackjack or one of my blackberrys over the N75.

Sold an N75 today and it locked up completely 5 minutes into the activation - had to take the battery out to reset it. Also to me, the N75 feels cheap, especially compared to the V3xx.

RF on the V3xx is much better as well.

Most of the people here that have the phone are already experienced s60 users so of course they are complaining about some of the cingular-symbian teething issues. This was the fear from the very start. I can guarantee you that the majority of these people would still take the n75 even with these current issues which will most likely be ironed out in future firmware updates. Or if not, i'm sure they'd take an unbranded/unlocked n75 that probably won't have any of the problems. I know that I will never go back to a motorola, you simply can not compare the two in my opinion. I still have to use a razr as my work phone (verizon, no s60 phones) and I detest it.

Just ordered another V3xx from Cingular last night...and want to give it another try. Got the platinum/chrome model so it wouldn't look all that much like a plain RAZR. I actually called back and tried to stop the order...to get the N75 instead...but couldn't stop it in time. So...I'm going to play with it for a few days and see. I am just afraid that I will get bored with it quickly since I am using my Treo 680 for my "daily driver" and have pretty much converted to smartphones full-time. But...the V3xx is my backup/weekemd/casual phone so it doesn't have to have all the toys & bells my Treo has.

If I get bored...I might still return it and get the Nokia instead. I have stayed away from Nokia for the last several years because they have had a Mattel-toy flimsy plastic build quality and feel to them...and a horribly low earpiece volume. That's a dealbreaker to me if nothing else...

How is the build quality of the N75 and earpiece volume...really, without bias from Nokia fans. Does the phone have some weight and "density" to it...or does it scream "plastic!!!"?
How is pop3 email on the V3xx...and how is it on the N75? Is it almost "push" fast...and can you set the sync to push email from the server at, say...15-30 minute intervals?

Make no mistake, the N75 is the more capable phone, hands down. It is very good at what it does, it will have more bugs and problems at first like any smartphone when it is first released. You can't really compare it to a V3xx since the V3xx is not a smartphone. But, if you need a phone first and a smartphone second the N75 will fit your needs. If you need a solid phone, probably the best that at&t offers, than the V3xx would be your better choice. If all depends on what your needs are. I have a treo 750 and I use it for business, it fits my needs, querty, windows OS. I also switch back and fourth between that and a E62i(yes I have one) just because I love Symbian better. I use the V3xx(Plat) for my everyday phone because it is mindless and problem free, light, built well, sturdy. Basically it fits my needs better for a function as a phone. It also has good multi-media cap. E'mail works very well, and moto phone tools is easy to update my contacts and keep them organized, there are alot of apps for the V3xx to make it function more like a PDA and add them all together, you have a great phone for everyday use.

Is the N75 a better phone, no. Is it a better and more capable device, yes. This is a distinction most people over look. What are your needs? Is it easier to use, no, is the V3xx, yes. I was using the N62i for work and the N75 for everyday use, two smartphones which are great devices, but not great for everyday use. Well, not as easy to use as the V3xx. And when I am not at work, ease of use wins out over "cool' apps and features any day of the week for me.

Thanks for that, iamthedudeman. My Treo is my daily phone since I have three emails running all the time...syncing every 15-minutes...and that requires a Seidio 2400 battery to keep me charged. It's a great device (don't warm up to WM or I would have a 750)...and I have lots of apps loaded to do lots of things that I need in my businesses. But...it's a little bulky and not a "mindless" communication device at all. I really want a simple, sturdy, effective phone that will also deliver my email to me away from home easily. That's all I need out of a backup/weekend phone...and the V3xx might fit the bill better than the N75 for me in that respect.

It's a shame that it looks virtually identical to the RAZR...and that bothers the part of me that still loves a degree of exclusivity (hence my Crimson 680 vs. the Graphite model)...but that's OK.

And I don't feel like dealing with all the bugs and glitches involved with the N75, waiting for an update to fix things. I have gone through the "teething" process with my Treo...

So...I'll give the V3xx a shot. It might be that I made the right decision after all...

I was looking at these 2 phones as well...

I am looking for a phone first and media player second..
few questions...

1. does the n75 do ad2p like the v3xx? can i listen to music over bluetooth?
2. i see the 3g is different for each phone, which is faster?
3. does the n75 have voice recognition like the v3xx? voice dial without pre recording...
4. besides better screens and being symbian, what other advantages does the n75 have over the v3xx?

thanks
