Nokia N75 Launch for Cingular

If it's been in "testing" this long I guarantee it's been canceled.

It's already way obsolete. Who cares if it supports Cingular's (AT&T) 3G - it's only 100kbit faster than EDGE.

HSDPA: An enhancement for 3G UMTS networks, High Speed Downlink Packet Access promises bone-rattling speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, compared to a "mere" top speed of 2Mbps for UMTS.

EDGE: Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (or Enhanced Data GSM Environment), a 2.5G enhancement for GSM with a theoretical top speed of 200Kbps, although real-world speeds will be closer to 90Kbps.

Their is more of a difference than you might think...and as the networks evolve the potential to reach those top speeds become more of a possibility but certainly at it's slowest expected connection it's much faster. I've toyed around with my old E61 and cingular video using an Edge connection and also seen the LG 3G in action and the speeds are dramatically different. It's even more of a testament to the speed considering the E61 has significantly more Ram and processing speed than the LG

Average data speeds run between 400-700 kbps (kilobits per second) on the downlink, with bursts to more than a megabit per second so I'm not sure what you've been smoking....but I bet it's good!

edit: Although I agree...we're not talking about verizon fios speeds here! I'm not destroyed by having no us 3g Nokias out yet but it's just plain annoying that we seem to be second fiddle to Nokia.

Yes, there seems to be some problem with Nokia and Cingular/AT&T getting a 3G phone together. That and everyone is infatuated with a flip phone (or is it marketing that is forcing it down the public's throat).
