Nokia N73 or Music Edition

I would like to buy Nokia N73 soon enough for xmas, debating between both of the two. N73 the regular one, does not come with memory card, to purchase 1gb mini sd costs about $50CAD and the phone costs $530CAD. So the Music Edition N73 comes with 2gb mini sd card, but costs about $600CAD. So should i just buy the Music Edition, since i am going to need a memory card for a bit of music and space for taking pictures and movies. Also does the music edition look too much like an mp3 player, want it to maintain a business look. Cheers, Raj

also is it true that N73 regular one, does not read past 1gb cards

According to my research here on HOFO, and several other S60 and/or Nokia phone web type places....

The N73 ME is a standard N73 with different firmware. It has a black casing and keys. Comes with the extras you mention.

However, I've also seen/read that the standard N73 can run the same firmware as on the ME (in fact, there's now and IE edition that has even better media button options).

It's also been stated here on HOFO and other sites that the 2gb mini SD cards will work fine in a standard N73.

I'll be able to tell you about the 2gb card probably tomorrow (expecting in the mail).

I'm not really interested in the ME or IE version of firmware.....

HTH.

ME edition has much better music player application. Easy to navigate & better sound quality with options like stereo widening & loudness. Other than that both are pretty much same. However you can buy a std N73 & flash it with N73 ME FW for free. Search this forum on how to do it.

2GB minSD will work with N73. If you want to maintain the business look then you are better off with std N73(Silver) than N73 ME which comes only in back color.

thank you very much for your posts, i think i am going to go with the standard N73, are there any memory card companies which i should not buy from? When i had the 6230i some brands wouldnot work with it. I am going to order a sandisk or kingston mini sd from tiger direct

I like the Music edition more, but the fact that the msuic app stays open sticks out like a sore thumb. These phones already don't have enough ram, and having the msuic app always open will eat ram, especially when it 's needed when browsing.

I think the N73 IE is better because it has the same music player, but I don't think the music player is always "on". (Not sure about this though)

i posted this on another thread but no answers. for some reason, when i plug in the headphones the music is still blasting out of the speakers. is there a way to turn that off?
