Nokia N73 Music Edition VS Nokia n73....

What's the difference between the ME, IE, and regular N73?

I'm about to purchase an N73 and have searched these forums for a clear answer on which model to get.

Is there any pro's and cons? ive read multiple reviews but i want to hear from user experience.

I currently own a Sony Ericsson k790a, and wanted to see if the n73 would be comparable.

Thanks!

I prefer regular n73 firmware, i had ME firmware somehow i find the regular one's music player better than the ME one, well more simple to use imo. and somehow i think its faster. correct me if im wrong

I much preferred the Music Edition music player, but I have the vanilla firmware because I have an iPod, and also because I personally found the vanilla to be quicker. However, there's been a few music edition updates since then, so perhaps they've fixed it.

Here's the main differences:

1. Music Edition, the "music/multimedia button" ONLY goes to the music app. it's not user-configurable. In regular, it's another shortcut key you can assign 4 apps to.

well, that's about it. Housing, obviously. It'd cost you about $75 for the black housing (just bought it and installed it myself), so factor that in if you're color conscious. Other than that, you'll probably get it slightly outdated firmware wise, which means you can shop based on housing and then flash to whatever firmware you want.

Btw, does everyone know that (at least on the plain firmware) no matter what you assing the shortcut key's (middle option to), if u just press and hold the shortcut key, it will go directly to the music player.

oooooooooh. If only I could get the new music player app with the full functionality of the multimedia key, I'd be a happy camper - though, honestly, i don't think i ever use the key, lol. it's faster for me (or rather, more "thought-less") to just navigate to my "Media" folder.

I keep strugling as to what to assign the media key shortcuts to. I dont use the media player at all, so I have it set to things like the clock and Ybrowser and then whatever else I use that wk, but really, don't have much use for it.

The gallery key on the side is great (except for when it's pressed by accident)

Is their a difference in sound quality between the ME and regular though ?
I think the music quality on the regular is horrendous and is equally bad through the phone speaker.
May be worth an upgrade to the IE if the sound quality from the ME is better and if the IE contains the ME sound upgrade.

Cheers, LL-

I don't really normally have jam sessions through the speaker on my phone, but i don't notice anything too terrible. I'm certainly not an audiophile, either, though.

AFAIK, there's no hardware difference, just firmware and housing.

and how is it? what's the current IE firmware number? languages? what's your RAM when you startup the phone? Does it hold this amount or lose it throughout the day?

The reason I left the ME firmware is because by the end of a day, i'd be down to 6-7MB of RAM with nothing opened.

What should I use to check out the available ram after boot? I currently don't have any additional software installed (I only updated the firmware a couple of hours ago). The current IE firmware is 3.0638.0.0.43.

EDIT - Sorry, SysExplorer does the trick. There is 20mb available after boot.
