Nokia Maps & Nokia Drive

Okay, maybe I'm being thick here but are Nokia Maps and Drive designed to be 2 programs doing half the job of each other, or was Ovi maps on Syrabian just a way better Sat Nav application?
I mean, on WP7 Nokia Drive one of the most important things in my opinion is to be able to add your own favourites..
But I don't see how you add a favourite. Or is there some way of accessing favourites from Nokia Maps to use with Drive?
Also no traffic speed warnings or camera alerts, no satellite view, journey timer etc etc etc
Or am I misssing something. Glad I didn't sell my N8..
Someone put me out of my misery here please.

You are correct. Nokia maps is like google maps. Drive seems to be a half harted attempt at sat nav. And seems to need to be connected to the network to function despite having downloaded maps.

Hopefully they will both end up being like the syrabian version. No need for connectivity whatsoever. I don't see why Nokia maps can't use the same maps as drive...

The separation of Nokia Maps and nav app is because Nokia are looking for spreading their maps on other platforms and devices.. But not their navigation system or at least not for free!! That's how I see so far..

And having said that, as far as I remeraber, Nokia did claim that their maps will get full integration within Windows Phone hinting at a Bings Maps replacement..
We shall see how that turns out to be..
And they promised an update as well eliminating any need for online connectivity by the Drive app..

So all in all, the current solution is just temp as it seems as they're reaching the final product.. We could then judge the final result whether they really enhanced the previous Ovi Maps experience and service or made it worse!!

I am really disappointed with both Nokia Maps & Drive on the Lumia 800. I feel like these apps have taken a few steps backwarRAB,compared to the user experience on the syrabian platform. I really wish Nokia would get this sorted & get these apps working the way we are all used to them working. If you want to get Syrabian users to switch over to Nokia Windows Phones, then the most important Nokia apps have to work just as well,if not better on this "awesome new UI". especially considering the amount of money these devices cost. I still have to navigate with my C7 when driving. this is just not on....
