FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia has dropped another hint that it will unveil a 41MP cameraphone at its New York event on 11 July.
Nokia has posted a teaser image on its blog promising "41 million reasons" for readers to tune in to next month's event, which will be live streamed on its website. Unless Nokia has managed to stuff the upcoming smartphone with 41 million new features, we suspect that this is a clear hint about a 41MP cameraphone.
Nokia hasn't said much else on the matter, although last week it sent out invitations to the event with the tagline "Zoom Reinvented", another big hint that the firm is gearing up to launch another Pureview device.
Still, Nokia deosn't have to say much else, as the handset has been the sujbect of a number of online leaks. If this speculation is correct, expect Nokia's upcoming 41MP cameraphone, tipped to arrive as the Nokia Lumia EOS, to feature a high-end metallic casing along with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system, a 4.5in HD AMOLED screen and 32GB of internal storage.
Of course, the main talking point will be the handset's camera. As well as a 41MP sensor, this apparently will feature Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and optical zoom, as the firm clearly looks to challenge Samsung's Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphone The Nokia Lumia EOS is rumoured to be smaller than the chunky Nokia Pureview 808, although the 41MP camera sensor is likely to be fairly heavy.
There's no word on the upcoming handset's pricing or availability yet, but we'll be covering Nokia's 11 July event in New York, so check back then for all the latest details. µ
