Nokia E71 to Nokia E72

I currently have a Nokia E71 that I love dearly. It is in pristine condition as I have babied it. Anyway, I was wondering if I should upgrade to the E72.

Here are what I see to be the potential wins of the upgrade. Please fill in if you see any points I'm not considering.

E72 has free voice navigation, but I have a dedicated GPS device.
E72 has a standard earphone jack, but I happen to have a converter to use the 2.5 mm plug.
E72 can charge off the USB cord, but since I've been with Nokia since the 1990s, I have many, many chargers lying around.
(potential negative) E72 is almost $400 and that is, at least on my salary, a lot of coin.
(potential positive) E72 has a more upgraded operating system which means I'll be able to take advantages of programs not yet conceived of.

What do you think ... should I consider an upgrade or keep on with what I already have?

The E72 is faster, which might help with responsiveness in general, and some media activities specficially. If the E71 isn't disappointing you here, it doesn't sound like you have a big reason to upgrade.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be sticking with my E71 for a while longer. I'm absolutely still really happy with it.

And TheNokiaReview, that was a great blog entry!

I upgraded. After using the E72 for a while now I am pretty sure I am happy with it.

The E71 spoiled us with it's body but the E72 is better in EVERY other way. The E72 is still no slouch in build quality either. It is still far ahead of it's competitors.

The E71 is the fashion, the E72 is the function ..and despite that it's still class leading. You should most definitely upgrade.

Could you provide examples of how the E72 is better?

I have heard that the firmware is still very buggy as of now (remember how the E71 wasn't really great until v400, which was just released a few months ago). I am happy with how my E71 has been functioning after I got on v400. An increase in speed would definitely be welcome, but it doesn't warrant spending so much when the older one works so well still.

Also, I have heard that the new E72s are Made in China and not Made in Finland. Is this true?

TIA.

Well the UI is updated and smooth, the keyboard is improved and makes many things easier, there's the 5mp camera which is miles ahead of the lazy 3.2mp camera on the E71, you get a 3.5mm audio jack finally and the sound quality is top notch. Battery life is better, you finally have a torch feature .. the list really goes on. It's the evolution of the E71.

Mine does say made in China. Keep in mind how spoiled we all are from the E71. The build of the E72 coming from an E71 won't be an improvement and you'll miss a couple bits of metal .. but as soon as you pick up a competitive handset like a Bold 9700 you'll feel right away that the E72 is still miles ahead.

The only issue I had with the phone physically was the battery cover was a little loose in one corner and I would press it down a bit. It was a 10 second fix because I had to bend it the TINIEST bit and it fits perfect now. I wouldn't even say bend because it looks no different but it fits wonderful.

There's the odd software glitch but nothing enough to make me wish I didn't buy it and nothing that prevents me from using the phone as I like. After the first E72-2 fw release I think it will be close to perfect.
