Hello.
I'm having trouble deciding between the two phones. I like both of these phones. I really have no preference.
I do some emailing, but not too much. I just like wifi.
I feel like the HTC G1 has more "fun things" to do. The Nokia E71, though, looks like a solid phone with a lot of great features.
What do you guys think?

Thank you.

if u want something more mature as sofware and hardware go with the e71 its more grown and s60 its a great OS. If you like to try new things android its fun internet easy to use if you have gmail and use google alot its great.
battery its bad on the g1
and apps get installed in the phone memory.
e71 battery is great but s60 doesn't change so it gets little boring.
its more up to your need both devices are good but e71 its way better but i like my g1 its nice to have 3g for tmo

Hmm... Do you like touch screen? I am personally not very fond of it. I had the E71 at one point and I found the OS kind of bland. Plus it is not very good with email, at all.

If you are using AT&T the G1 will not get 3G service, the E71 will.

little bit of both but it wont affect the g1 as far as service and signal. but you gotta find out how would you set up the g1 to send mms and have att data. before you buy it

I don't have a data plan right now, and I really don't need it yet. I just use a lot of wifi. That wouldn't really affect whether or not I have 3g right? If I purchase an unlocked htc g1, would it be really hard to use on the AT&T network? I don't think it should be that hard, right?
I don't mind a touch screen. I really like how the g1 has a touch screen and a keyboard.

Hello,

It depends who your service proider is and which E71 model you have. The E71-2 is the north american 3G version, but the 3G will not work with T-mobile. The G1's 3G is only available with 3G serivce from T-mobile.

I feel like the e71 is a good phone. I just think that the G1 has more things to do. The e71 is kind of bland. There isn't much to do with it.
I think...
Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate it.

I had an iPhone 2G before the E71-2. I sold the E71 and now have a iPhone 3G. The E71 is packed with everything you will ever need in a phone and had the looks to boot. I enjoy the user experience with the iPhone and that's why I came back. Although the G1 or iPhone may not be feature packed as the E71, I think sometimes the user interface does become the dealbreaker. If I was in this predicament, I'd go with the G1 but that's because the user interface is more of a deciding factor ever since the iPhone came out.

Plus the G1's shining star is android, which may not be mated to the greatest piece of hardware but sky's the limit for its potential.

HTC phones aren't known for their qualities. G1 is still an HTC phone - it doesn't have much relationship with Google except it uses an OS started by Google. So I wouldn't buy a G1 until HTC gets their technology matured.
If you are big on Wifi, note that many wifi phones don't have good antennas for Wifi signals. Their signals would likely to be half as strong as a Laptop would get.

hey, i would definitely go with the G1. I got mine from gsmallover.com about 3 months ago and i realllly like it. i guess i've never tried the other phone, but i feel very satisfied with this one. it is definitely a 'solid phone' and also has lots of apps and fun things to do.
