Hi,

Does anyone know how a nokia e65, or any other nokia model, with a chinese keypad will impact the phone?

I have always bought english ONLY keypad phones, and found a phone that has the chinese keypad.

What differences are there between a phone that has an english ONLY keypad to one that has chinese strokes on it as well?

Any info would be great! thanks for reading.

The difference is rather in the firmware. Natually, there're Chinese-specific features like predictive text, input methods (e.g. Keystroke, that what's the keypad is for) come with certain APAC and Chinese regional firmware if you've got a model with Chinese keypad.

However, you can flash it with other firmware for the EMEA, EURO markets. So you can use Arabic, Russian-specific features instead. So the keypad is just cosmetic and easier to the regional users to comprehend when typing.

I have the same issue. My E50 has English and Chinese in the languages. The sn shows it is from Singapore so when I updated the firmware I have to indicate the sn and then the firmware gets updated. If I was to put in the sn from say Australia, would the firmware change the languages on the phone?

only when I have to keep choosing the language to use. Minor annoyance only. Just thought if there was a easy way to fix I'd do it.

Phoenix is the professional software for flashing/updating Nokia BB5 phones, and it also requires an external USB dongle (which is rather expensive). But it is quite useful for installiing language packs, etc., which NSU can't do.

If you have a spare $200-300 lying around, it's a good investment.
