Nokia E63: Which filetype of pictures attached to MP3-songs can be displayed?

My new Nokia E63 does not display JPG pictures in MP3-files, although it has this ability. The files are ok, pictures can be displayed with my old phone, Nokia express music 5220 and on PC with Winamp. Which specifications must be met for the pictures, regarding filetype, size, color-depth, compression method? The manual gives no clue. PNG-pictures fail as well.
