So here is the thing. I'm at work and the guy im working with knock over a cup of coffe and some of it gets on my phone and It didnt apear to of damaged the phone but later on I noticed the joystick was sticky so i cleaned it and its better but still not the same which isnt a big deal as I probaly fix that.

Here are the current problems now.

1. Phone will not stay off. When you turn if off it starts right back up again even with battery taken out and put in again.

2. The keypad lights will not shut off.

Suggestions ?

Oh and the phone works 100% besides the current problems.

Just now noticed the thread....that's perhaps the strangest occurance i've ever heard of. Dont take this the wrong way but was the coffee perhaps Starbucks? They seem to jack up their caffeine count and perhaps your phone is just not used to the extra jolt. It could be what's keeping her up and not shutting off. I say remove the battery for a few hours and let her sleep it off.....that and maybe a good old fashioned master reset.

that's too bad though....you should have at least kicked your co-worker in the teeth.

I work in the Dish pit @ at restaurant called Cora's and it was up by the pans and I've had it there many times before and everyone knows its my phone and they would be careful. Now why the moron who was helping me with dishes had a cup of coffee beside my phone is beyond me. He tells me that the coffee just spilled and doesn't know how and was quick to push the blame away from him but he was the only person near it. The phone smells like coffee. I've tried *#7780* and *#7730# and none of them have any effect. The phone works 100% cept the keypad lights stay on 24/7...

If you've got the time then perhaps taking it apart and looking for any coffee residue is the only thing you can do. No telling if that will work but some pressurized air and alcohol wipes might fix whatever you find. If it's something that's seaped onto the motherboard I would say your out of luck. If it's constantly lit and always powers itself on then perhaps the power button connector is the problem....maybe some of coffee got on that and it's causing the malfunction. At least your phones working while you have this problem but i'm sure the battery life is awful. Anyway, it's too bad but I doubt anyone is going to be able to give you a proper solution. I had a cup of coffee spill on a VAIO I owned years ago and no one could give the reasoning for the issues I had. It would power on, boot, work for a few minutes, then just completely shut off with no warning. Coffee and electronics are not friends.

I tried to take it apart but I cant get the mono out of the casing..I think that little screw below the screen is holding it in. I'm going to my buddy to look @ it for me. He is better at these kinda things. I can always get dr.dave to look @ it.

Any success yet? I'm intrigued by this situation....I know that sounds bad as it's happening to you and could pssbly cost you $ but It's just too odd to not follow.

I dont know how to get the board out of the housing. I think that little screw below the screen is what is holding it there. If so then I need to find a screwdriver that fits.

The pictures look kind of grainy but it looks like it follows along with the T screwdrivers. T6 got you through most so it's probably a couple of notches up. i cant remember which phone I had that used a few different T's.

Check on Ebay. I took apart a few razrs a while back and they required a ton of sizes. In fact, hardware or electronics stores may have them. I know their available on-line somewhere though. Hopefully, with the time spent getting it open and searching for different sized screwdrivers the problem gets solved.

I just bought one on ebay for like $10 cdn. It was a 3 in one. Had T4,5,6 so If it's a T5 then it will fit.
I know a T7 will do the job of a T6 if you do't have one.

I seen a site that suggested soaking the phone in 95% alcohol as it would flush out any water and in my case coffee. I did notice that the instant i put the battery in the leds on the keypad come on. That's it really nothing else happens. The phone wont power on unless I press the power button..
