Nokia E61: cable connect (USB) in Windows Vista?

Hello...

I currently have Windows Vista RC1 on my computer. I installed the PC suite and that worked fine, and I even installed an Anycom USB bluetooth device and that worked fine too. I have no problem sending data back and forth from my PC and my phone. But, for some reason, I can't get the drivers to install for the DKU-5 adapter. What gives? Anyone had any issues with this or is it just me?

Also..quick question---is there a way to change the lineup of icons on the main screen next to the clock?

Thanks!

Do you really need to install the DKU cable driver. Since the last two versions of PCSuite, I have not had to install the drivers for the cable. I thought that was because the older pcsuites werent utilizing the cable connection like a usb connection but as a serial based connection.

Yes....

Ok... Install PCSuite ->You said you already did this.
next....Plug the USB cable in (no driver needed)
next....plug the phone in, select PCSuite on the phone
Then.... The computer should recognize the device attached via USB
Then PC Suite should recognize the unit, and Voila.

The use of the driver was for older installs of windows/pc suite.

Then the issue is probably in or two areas...

A. Windows Vista code cant read the USB spec from the E series phone (doubt this because its usb, it should be able to pull directly from the unit like it does everything else usb and tell you its name and all exposed services)

B. The PCSuite application is not fully installed properly due to Windows Vista mismatch. Remember Vista is new and there are some extreme differences in how its underlying systems work. There may be a compatibility mode you could run PCSuite in.

You still need the connectivity cable drivers if you are going to do an install with the firmware updater. it won't work otherwise. I'm assuming the main problem is that Vista just won't take the drivers because they haven't been updated yet.

Ok not to start a flame or anything but, as I said before its either A or B. You do not have to install the drivers ANYMORE.

It would seem your problem is with the PCSuite install on Vista, and probably because Vista changes the way services work and device management works.

See Below....

Important for Windows 2000 or XP users: Drivers for the Nokia DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-42, CA-53, and CA-70 cables are now integrated into PC Suite. Instead of downloading the cable driver separately, we recommend you download PC Suite.

Not to be rude, but "integrated into the suite" MEANS YOU STILL NEED THE DRIVERS. In other words, previous versions make you have to install it seperately. Not anymore. But it still won't work no matter what I do.

I'm running into the same probs....i have an E62 w/DKE-2 cable & 3200b w/DKU-5....the E62 loads fine but there seems to be no files present to allow the DKU-5 have access.....what gives? Any ideas on how to have Vista accept the DKU-5 XP drivers in some kind of XP compatibility mode? I see I can set XP-compatibility mode very easily with programs...?
