Nokia Bubbles: New Unlock Screen

It's working really well so far. It would be nice if you could turn off some bubbles that you don't need, and sometimes it's hard to grab bubbles that are overlapping, but basically it's a super efficient way of doing basic tasks from the lock screen without creating a scenario where you can accidentally activate functions or unlock. I've been looking for music control from the lock screen for a while!

um looks really cool... the name could be better though...

So all that money in R&D is coming to fruit lately in their recent applications

They really need to put proper music controls from the lock screen, ala iOS. Bubbles (terrible name) is a step in the right direction at least-

This is similar to Samsung captivate's puzzle lock screen. When you have a missed call or unread text, you will see the puzzle with missing piece. Once you drage the missing piece(missed call or un read text) to solve the puzzle it will take you to that screen directly(call log or sms)

With Nokia Bubble, there is no need to try/buy SlideUnlock. This app is pretty neat and it doesn't seem to have any lag. Now if it had a email notification icon, it would be perfect.

Do you have an Ovi/Nokia account? It should just allow you to sign in and download. I actually did it from my N8 too... though oddly enough not from the mobile version of the page.

the backgrounds look really nice. anyone know what the bubble with the white/green/red numbers are? i usually just throw that bubble and the red number seems to go up by a lot. still don't know what it's for though lol

It's speedometer statistics: Below the explanation from beta labs

Speedometer bubble

This bubble is just for fun: when killing time by throwing bubbles around you can see some statistics (from top to down): current speed, top speed of the bubbles (counted all up) and distance (added all up). Usage tip: just for fun and beating the friends

Its very Android-ish. You can get whole bunch of lockscreens and live wallpapers on the Android Market that will do similar things and let you interact with the phone with new and novel ways.

But its good thing to see it with QT. Shows the inherent potential.

I'm interested in how a dynamic lockscreen such as this could work for phone security, such as a pattern lock like android's without the flaw of leaving a clearly defined smudge trail for anyone to figure out your pattern.

What I noticed this morning was when I woke up and pressed the menu key, the bubble screen was very slow and laggy. After the screen was off I pressed menu key again and the lag was gone.

Also, i just realized the bubble lock screen does not display signal strength. I hope Nokia brings that back for the final release.
