Nokia, a world leader in mobile communications, announced today the N2100, the latest addition to its popular S60 line of smartphones. The phone is targeted to all space tourists but especially those who travel to Mars. The unit, which is ruggedized to withstand the wide temperature fluctuations and dust storms on the Red Planet, features a 10-megapixel camera with advanced Carl Zeiss optics to adjust for the unusual colors of the Martian landscape. At the touch of a button, tourists can share pictures with their friends and family on Earth via Flickr.
Industry analysts suggest the N2100 has been named to reflect its expected date of availability. One analyst, who requested anonymity, said ?release of the phone will probably coincide with NASA?s announcement of its first manned flight to Mars. There may be a further delay, given the absence of wireless infrastructure there.?
Members of the Howard Forums greeted the news with a shrug. ?Hell,? one enthusiast commented, ?My grandchildren can have it. I?m still waiting for the N95 with Feature Pack 1.?
