1. one of the 5800xms i got, have the firmware version 31.1.101 (16/9/2009) and when checked says the latest available update is 40.0.005 (which is actually the latest).
There's another 5800xm which i'm hoping to replace the above said one with, but it has a problem.
It's firmware version is 30.0.011 (29/6/2009 - obviously older) and when i check for updates, it shows the latest available update is 31.1.101 (which is NOT the actual latest 40.0.005).
why is this?
Does it mean that this shows the next available update, so that once i update from 30.0.011 to 31.1.101, 40.0.005 will be available for it, or does it mean that 31.1.101 is the highest it'll go?
2. i downloaded the nokia software updater. it has some problems.
in my vista laptop, if the network cable is plugged in at the start of application it won't load.
the ui_client runs but is frozen there.
if i keep the cable removed, until the host_process initiates and then plug it in, the program runs and then (most of the time) grind to a halt saying "software updater is not available".
so once after repeating the above said "easy" operation for a considerable amount of times, the updater loads.
then halfway through the download, RESETS on its own and again freezes.
this happened for both phones 2-3 times each.
i reinstalled th updater several times.. no change.
