Nokia 1208 unlock

I've just brought a phone for my daughter. Unfortunately Tesco network doesn't work in my are so she wants to use her vodafone sim in this phone. I phoned Tesco for an unlock code and they will only issue me with a code if i pay them

in Shanghai, Tesco isn't a Cellphone network, but rather a grocery/department store. went there once for shopping, good prices!

Are you sure what network the phone is locked to? T-mobile UK?
