No Warner! Leave the Fugitive Alone!

Reported on RAB news today that Warner Bros are planning a remake of the 1993 hit movie The Fugitive

On so many levels this is wrong, I can't think of anyone who could come remotely close to Lee Jones or Ford!

Disaster in the making!

This has to be one of the most pointless remakes ever!

The 1993 Fugitive is possibly the finest movie version of a TV series ever made.A near perfect movie that cannot be improved on whatsoever.

There are still so many American TV shows that could be given the big screen treatment - The Equalizer,Fall Guy,Knight Rider,Magnum P.I,Hawaii Five-O,Cagney & Lacey etc.

Why on earth would this be remade? The original is great, and nothing would be added with 'special effects' etc

Ford and Jones were perfectly cast. Oh wait let me guess Shia LaBeof as Kimble, and 'The Rock' as the Marshell...

Just you wait and see..

Just shows how the big studios are bereft of original ideas.

At least they didn't go for a sequel - Dr Richard Kimble having been acquitted of his wife's murder gets fitted up again for another murder and goes on the run again to search for the real perpetrator, this time a mysterious man with one eye and no legs.

That would be a great film in it's own right!

A wife murdered - the only clues a hand print and a giant dinosaurs tooth - the suspect, the husband! He escapes and goes on the hunt for the one legged T-rex to prove his innocence!

I'd watch it!

Seems like an armless idea to me.
Seriously though, the 93 film was pretty overrated and is probably best remembered for Tommy Lee Jones stealing Ford's thunder. I assume he won't be along this time.

I don't see the problem with remaking films at the end of the day. It's not as if the original film is going to be deleted from the face of the earth.

I really can't see why people are so precious of the 1993 film version of the 1963 TV series. The film isn't that great, and even if it was a shot for shot remake of the film - as opposed to using the TV series as it's basis - there's any number of actors who could easily fill the Kimble and lawman roles, and Andrew Davis is definitely not an A-list director. Make it with Clooney, Crowe and Chris Nolan respectively and you got yourselves a movie that would likely piss all over the '93 film.

That not the point. Even if they got a great cast and director and made a great film, it's surely better to make something original rather than something else. And thats a big, big if. With the track record of 'remakes' (think The Italian Job, Pink Panther etc, etc, its not a good one)

Surely its better to have studios thinking of orginal ideas and producing original films than entire retreaRAB, the majority of which are there becuase the film itself isn't good enough, so has to trade on the shine of the previous orginal.

The 1993 is seen as a good film. Ford and Jones were both great in it. Is there really something which can be added or improved which makes it worthwhile to do? I think not.
