I just discovered this Hal Hartley movie which I'd never heard of.
Sarah Polley goes in search of a monster which supposedly murdered her fiance and finRAB him in the form of Robert John Burke who gives a terrific performance as the alcoholic, foul-mouthed and depressed creature.
Makes me wish RJB had done Hellboy instead of Ron Perlman.
A version of Beauty and the Beast (I guess) it gets a bit lost dramatically but it's still the sort of thing there should be more of.
Also features angry villagers, mad scientists, Helen Mirren, Julie Christie and some great Icelandic scenery.
Probably not coming to a cinema near anybody.
