Okay everyone I have a serious problem with this truck. It's been sitting in my garage not running for 3 months. So the timing belt went out about 6 months ago. Its my buddy's truck and he asked me for some help with it. So we bought the new timing belt. After taking the timing belt cover and all the necessary parts off we discovered that sure enough the timing belt teeth had been frayed off at the bottom. So we put top sprocket at the "A" setting and the bottom sprocket notch lined up. We installed the new belt and put everything back together. When we started it it sounded a little rough and had a bit of a slapping sound along with it. Obviously we had done something wrong so the next day we took everything apart again and discovered the belt was too loose. We tightened the belt and had a correct measure of point of deflection on the belt. Once we put everything back together for the second time we started it up and it sounded phenomenal. We drove the truck and it ran strong and sounded great the entire time. After driving about two miles the truck simply died out of nowhere. We literally heard no knocking or sounds or anything, the truck just died. The lights stereo and everything still worked. The truck would crank but would not turn over. So we immediately towed the truck back to my garage and started looking at all the connections. After hooking up a spark tester we found that it had no spark. Keep in mind before changing the timing belt we had changed the ignition coil, the high tension leads, the rotor, ignitor, spark plugs and distributor cap. I then took the distributor apart and there was a bit of moisture in there. The book says to spray it with WD40 to dry it out. Tried that, still no spark, we tested the ignition coil and the ohm rating was correct. So far im thinking the ballast in between the ignition switch and ignition coil could potentially be the problem but i can't find it. Does anyone know where this is located or have any other suggestions?? Anything will help Im in desperate need to get this truck running and I appreciate any suggestions or help. Thanks
