I have 2 5900 receivers (one in my bedroom and one in the living room) with programming through both 91 and 82. My plan was to disconnect the one in my bedroom to bring to my inlaws so we could watch some of the shows I recorded to it.
As soon as I disconnected the power cord to the receiver in the bedroom, the receiver in the living room lost all channels and then checked the signal which was at 0%. I did all the power cycling check switch, etc. Nothing worked. So I thought I'd connect the power cord for the receiver in the bedroom back to check the signal on that. Voila, signal/programing came back in the living room receiver.
Question: Am I to assume now that I need to have both receivers connected for the other to receive programming/signal?
This was not the case in the past, as I used to do this on a monthly basis. What has changed recently though is about a month ago, I had a tech come out to improve reception on my dish so I assume he changed something so that now both receivers need to be plugged in to obtain signal.
