Welcome to the boards!!

From personal experience, and from what I've observed on the boards, is that when doctors do lots and lots and lots of tests and come up with "nothing" it is often because they overlook the side effects of a medication a person is taking. Example? I had everything from back pain to arthritis to memory and mood problems when taking meds for high blood pressure...these symptoms disappeared anywhere from 48 hours to 6 weeks after discontinuing the offending medication.

On another note, one condition that many doctors miss is lyme's disease, which has over 100 different symptoms (and no, you don't have to have them all--some people only have one symptom) and which can affect blood, bones, muscle, digestion, organs, etc. There is no definitive test so often lyme literate medical doctors diagnose and treat based on symptoms. Lyme is the second fastest infectious disease in our country, underreported and misdiagnosed....cases of lyme have been identified in every state of the union, from what I understand. You might check out the lyme boards.

Yes, you need to be bitten by an infected tick, as far as I know...but don't assume you haven't been around ticks because most people aren't aware of tick bites because ticks release a numbing agent when they bite, some ticks are very, very, very small, and some ticks look like small "moles" that people think disappear or fall off. Few people have the "luxuary" of knowing a tick has bitten them...that's one of the reasons people/doctors don't think about Lyme Disease as an explanation for their symptoms.

I live in a very large urban area and people I know have lyme's disease. It's a myth that you have to be in the woods, etc., to get bitten by a tick. Mice, birds, dogs, cats, horses, goats, and people can carry/transfer ticks.

One cannot mention everything here, but should you choose to learn more, keep in mind every state has their "own" tick problem as there are many different kinds of ticks.

There is much more relevant info in the stickies on the lyme boards...if you're interested in learning more, that would be a good place to start.

Take care!
