No network ID or Signal

Me and me wife have had V3's for a couple of years. She wanted a SILVR L7 so we purchased one off e-bay maybe a bad choice but The phone arrived in looks to be new condition.

Its a Motorola L7i , model se5779ab1b5 , I charged the battery installed the SIM card from her V3 turned on the phone but it wont connect to the network no signal no logo. Just the time,date and battery charge state. It see's the sim card because there no error and the phone book is there. I replaced the sim card back in the V3 and it boots up with full signal. Any IDEALS. Thanks James

I have cingular now AT&T service and this phone is said to be unbranded & unlocked
 
The phone might be set to the manual band setting of 900/1800 which is used in Europe. Go into the Network settings and change to Automatic or 850/1900 band.

I don't find a place to set the band to auto my V3 does but this is different.

The menu goes = Settings =GSM Services = Network under Network you have three choice's which are.

1 Perferred List = cingular,cingular,Edge,310-450,310-30,310-560,310-830,Corr,311-80,310-100,311-901,indgo,310-890,IWS,310-950,westlink

2 Forbidden = Empty

3 Home Network = Cingular

In #1 perferred list that all shows up in a list where you can select one the two soft keys are left is valid and the right is exit.
2 just has a screen that says Empty in it.
3 Has a screen that says cingular with no selections.:(
