No Internet tethering switch iPhone 3GS 4.0.1?

So I was trying get my Internet tethering going the other day I had actually been using it quite a bit before I last updated my phone. But after the update it didn't work. Now a few months later I was trying to fix the problem and before I did anything I hooked my comp to my phone and turned tethering on. It didn't work and the tab is now gone. I have no idea how to get the tethering option back. I have AT&T. Any ideas??? Thx
