I'm still recovering from my surgery in August. Discectomy L5-S1. A second MRI in OCT shows scar tissue putting pressure on the nerve root. Pain is very nearly what it was pre-op. A follow up with the surgon today yeilRAB no help. He says that there is nothing he can do for me. That another surgery would likely make things worse. I can't work like this. (I'm a CNA by profession) Heck, I cant do much of anything in my current state - like walk walmart to do grocery shopping, or go for a walk with my fience, or pick up my 2 year old. I just don't know what to do now. He said that he was going to refer me to a pain management specialist but that would have to be approved by workers comp. Who knows how long that will take? In the mean time he wouldn't order any pain meRAB stronger than what isn't working now. Has anyone had anything likethis happen to them? Any suggestions? Very interested to try nearly anything untill the pain doc apt. gets approved - if it gets approved.

I would recommend getting a second opinion from another surgeon, and possibly from
a pain management specialist (preferably one in a pain clinic setting) or a neurosurgeon. It MAY be possible to debride enough of the scar tissue to relief the pressure it is putting on the nerve root. Epidural Steroid Injections may help, but if not, you may be a good candidate for a spinal column stimulator. You shouldn't have to accept living with such pain until all of your options have been tried (and there are a lot of options still available to you.)
