No-contract phones?

Whats the deal with the new no-contract phones? How does that work??

Do you still have to fill out a contract or pay with a CC? I'd like to get a phone thats anonymous. I see where you can buy minutes at gas stations & stuff.

For instance the Cingular GO phones at walmart. Can you just buy the phone and prepaid minutes cards?

Thanks for any info!

yep, just buy em with cash... no contracts or anything. I think with Cingular you have to call to activate it. (comes with a $10 airtime card) and you can just buy the cards with cash at the store and activate em.

Check out Cingular's site for more info.

Tracfone and Net10 are both very good too. They are actually owned by the same company. Tracfone's phones themselves are a little cheaper, and the airtime is reasonable. Net10 phones cost just a bit more, buit the airtime is 10 cents a minute. That's really cheap.
