2007 chevy EQUINOX 23000k miles.

Sometimes when driving for a long time the air-conditioner start out fine and then some type of vapor starts coming out from the vents. After that the air slowly starts to get not so cold. I shut unit off wait 5-10 minutes and turn back on and everything works ( cold ) again.....for a while then the same thing starts all over again. BUT THE NO MORE VAPOR. At night the air is very nice and cold. So I'm really lost here. This problem does not happen all the time. ONLY WHEN IS VERY HOT AND I"M GOING FAST. could this be the thermostat sticking? the car has enough freon and coolant in it. can you help??? I cant figure it out//////////

check the drain tube for the AC unit. It could be plugged not allowing the moisture to drain out, thus causing a backup that freezes and stops the airflow thu the evaporator. The AC system will get moisture from the air going thru it, more so during the day when it is hotter, especially in humid sticky weather.
