I think your indy is putting some scare tactics on you. I've been reading about theses crank problems for years and if they where as bad as some people go on about there would be 1000's and 1000's of blown up Harley's out there and if there where you would hear people whining to be the band on this web sight.
There are people doing virtually everything to these newer bikes with almost no problems, I am sure there are things that will decrease the life of these engines and there are probably a few bad cranks out there, but not a cam change.
I think maybe you need to look at a different Indy, he obviously has a bug up his you know what about these newer engines.
