thats not true at all...

People bought it like fucking hotcakes...

the reason the Dreamcast went under was because of all the Piracy... Nobody was buying first/second party titles because it was so easy to just rip the disk and get the game for a mere rental fee. Third party sales also fell and caused Sega to lose a very large share of developers for the Dreamcast because they didn't want their hardearned work being played for free.

Piracy is what killed it, not lack of hardware sales.

Why do you think the Gamecube and Wii were and still are fairly hard to pirate (just because the games can finally be ripped doesn't mean they're very playable yet, and even then its on the PC in very poor quality) ... The appeal to piracy is to play them on the consoles... like the xbox, playstation or dreamcast... many good games can be had for a fraction of the price.

That's the crazy thing. My dad who wouldn't even pick up my 8-bit NES controller back in the day played golf on the wii and didn't want to stop.

My brother-in-law was dead set on gettinga PS3, he played Zelda and he only wants a Wii now.

its selling like crazy but a system is only as good as its games are.. we learned this from the dreamcast.. good system.. shit games.. right now if you look half the damn launch titles are buy Ubiesoft or THQ .. nintendo gonna have to do better then that to back up the console sales.. like Lucus Arts, Square, or even Rockstar?

edit.. EA is a good start but it wont carry the wii

I just hope that they keep coming out with quality games. If 3MM Wiis have been sold, then chances are the developers will flock to it. Yeah, it'll basically be PS2 graphics but the latest PS2 games don't look all that bad. At least not until you look at the PS3.

Then why is it still sold out all over the place?

And what about people who want it, but don't like waiting in lines or traveling to multiple stores to find one. I think many people are waiting til they can just go out and buy one without hassle.

It doesn't really matter, what matters is the game library.

The N64 sold about 30 million units.

You would think that Sony would keep supporting the PS2, "making" developers putting out games for it. Does the NFS: Carbon for the PS3 really play that much better than the PS2 version? That is just one example of supporting the same game on two different platforms (since the PS3 hardware is radically different from the PS2).
