Nimiq 1

Guest
Technology group has just advised that we are experiencing technical difficulties with Nimiq 3 as of 4:55PM EST today.

Telesat is actively working to resolve this issue with Nimiq 3.

Customers may experience temporary channel outages as a result of this problem. Our Call Center has been informed and an up-front message regarding this is being broadcast to callers on the IVR.

There is currently no ETA on the fix.

Not sure what the issues are as I don't have access to a Receiver right now.

Anyone notice anything happening.....?

Nimiq 3 is co-located with Nimiq 1 at 91 degrees.....

Potentially everything except HD, International and a handful of stations in the "extra hardware" theme packs like Variety 3 and Sports 3. Nimiq 3 is the back-up satellite for Nimiq 1 (which is now approaching the end of its useful life). Unless Nimiq 3 is actually "taking the lead" on certain transponders -- as opposed to back-up or extra power -- many users might not notice anything amiss.

It is, however, a situation worth investigating. I, for one, am curious to see how or if it makes a difference. If anyone reports trouble with a specific channel it should be possible to figure out which transponder it is on.

First 129 starts acting up now N3. Would N1 actually be able to carry the full load if 3 were to totally fail? I wonder if the 9 day IPG overloaded it...lol...?

Please be advised that due to technical issues the following services have been moved from 91 degrees to 82 degrees effective immediately:

Wild TV - Ch. 389 Transponder 15

GoL TV - Ch. 404 Transponder 17

GoL SP - Ch. 388 Transponder 17

FIGHT - Ch. 390 Transponder 13

WFN - Ch. 419 Transponder 21

Looks like they lost a Transponder........Or at least half of one, T9 I believe.

I didn't see any message saying that there were issues with Nimiq 3...

I saw a mesage saying that issue was fixed on the 82 degree on
Transponders 01, 03, 05, 07, 09, 11, 15, 21, 25, 27, 29, 31 and that Channels returned are: 119, 195, 207, 222, 223, 224, 248, 260, 270, 337, 390, 403, 404, 419, 516, 572, 574, 578, 607, 631, 653, 654, 702, 704, 705, 707, 711, 713, 714, 715, 716, 718, 719, 720, 721, 722, 729, 800, 801, 803, 806, 816, 819, 820, 822, 823, 825, 857, 858, 859, 865, 919, 925, 927, 935, 937, 964, 978, 984, 985, 987, 988

Well, no harm done. Wild TV, GOL, Fight and WFN aren't exactly in the Top 10 ... make that Top 100 ... channels watched, ratings wise.

Move on now. Nothing to see. ;)

Was their any reports about the 82 bird and CH 831 with the UFC 74 match in HD Saturday night?

Trying to debug a commercial site and its unclear if it was equipment or signal problem (at the source).

Any help muchly appreciated.
PM OK if sensitive info.

I was too tired to check the e-mail from Technology Group, and I knew something was wrong.......

You are correct, which explains why Agent had the message about 82 degrees.

Thanks, it all makes sense now. Thanks agaon and I will enjoy sending an e-mail to Express Vu about this in the next few seconds.....lol

It is, but the problem was not even with Nimiq 3, but with Nimiq 2!

The problem didn't last very long and affected only a small portion of our clients
