NHL 10 Be A GM mode question?

Hi there I am about to start playing the be a gm mode with the toronto maple leafs and have a couple of questions.

First off, i know trading is a bit different so I want to know if a trade i want to make would work. If I want to get rid of jason blake (RW, 83 i think) for a draft pick, would i have to look for a team with big interest in a winger but little interest in draft picks to get the best value? i was thinking of trying for a 1st pick but i'm not sure if it would work. for example, if i make this trade attempt to the islanders and they reject it, does that mean i cant offer blake for a prospect and a lower pick to the isles and see if that works? or keep offering deals till something works.

also, i heard u can jump in at the beginning of the draft. does that mean all the players the leafs signed won't be on my roster in the gm mode? such as komisarek, beauchemin, orr, gustavsson, etc.

If you wanted to trade someone like Jason Blake then you would need to find a team that would like a veteran winger and would also be willing to part with a draft pick. You would also have to make sure the draft pick is of equal or lesser value than Blake or you would have to give up another player or pick to make the trade fair.
For your second answer, no all those players will still be on your roster as well as the players the team drafted in real life if they didn't get sent back to junior. You would then go through a fake draft and be able to sign other free agents that haven't been signed in real life.
