I have recently purchased a google nexus one phone unlocked from Amazon,which should be arriving in the next couple of weeks. However I'm concerned about updating the firmware of the phone to 2.3.4 Gingerbead after reading a few forums on the matter. As this would be my first android phone coming from a Nokia E71, I would like to know which update method is safer manual or OTA. Also is it necessary to backup my information stored on the phone before installing an update over the air?
