Nexus one - How to change the look of icons?

Hi there.

I own a google nexus one and would like to change the icons of some things. I have found some Icons I like the look of, now what i want to know is what file format do i download them on so that i can put them on my SD card?

Also, what app would I need? I have Desktop visualizer - will that work?
