Nextel Sim Card Question...

Hey guys I just bought an i860 used without a sim card. If I buy a sim card off of ebay will I then just have to call nextel and have them activate it? What about if I bought a bigger sized card will that offer any benefits? I'm not even sure what size is the factory size for the i860. Any help would be appreciated.

o yeah i forgot to add what's the right cable and software to buy so I can connect the phone to my computer and upload photos?

You will need a 64k SIM for the i860. You should get a OEM serial data cable, and you'll need WebJAL.

You could also use Genesis 1.5 Plus with NoobJal.

GSM Roaming - United States
SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) cards are for GSM phones, designed to use with service providers who operate on GSM networks. If you go to the link above, you will see that Nextel is not a member of the GSM network in the U.S. The i860 is not a GSM phone.
Perhaps you have it confused with a MMC--multimedia card?

No it's nextel on the iden network. Maybe sim card isn't the correct name of the chips, but I called nextel and the tech even referred to the chip as a sim card.

Nextel/Boost use iDEN phones and iDEN phones use SIM cards.

and you want a cable that will have a 3 digit # ie: i730 i870 i860 ect not 1 with a 2 digit # ie: i95 i88

that is how to tell the difference between a falcon and a condor phone a i860 is a falcon type iDEN phone

as far as a "jal" program i use ufnjal ( MyUFN Forums - Powered by vBulletin ) 1.6 is has offline loading after a 1 time online connect to verify the license
