nextel phones on a boost account?

i know this is kind of a stupid question but i am looking to get a blackberry style phone but not the clutch. i have boost mobile as my plan, and since nextel is boost's big brother kind of thing, i'm thinking there should be no issues. i want to know if anyone else has done this and how it worked out for them....
 
you can only us the old nextel phones, not the nextel/sprint phones for boost mobile. but if you do choose to use a nextel phone some of the features may not work.
