Nextel know what phone I use?

ERROR;945557']Can Nextel know what type of phone I use if I switch my sim card to a new phone? The reason I ask is cause I added insurance to my phone last week and my GF washed my phone on Sunday (Talk about timing). Nextel said I couldn't use the insurance till I was billed for it once. My insurance is on an i860 phone but I have an old i265 phone I can use till my insurance is on the phone. I just don't want to use the i265 and have them know.

So does my phone transmit it's type to Nextel?
