Hello all,

I have a quick question; I just picked up a Nextel i860 from eBay and was curious if my SIM card from my (subscribed) Telus i830 can be swapped into the i860 for use on the Telus network or do I require an unlock code or hack?

Please let me know

Thanks A Million

Brilliance of the SIM... doesn't matter which phone you put it in if using the same service provider (NEXTEL to NEXTEL, Telus to Telus). Where you get into problems is when you switch between providers (NEXTEL to Telus, NEXTEL to Boost, Boost to NEXTEL, etc.) Unlock codes are only needed when switching between carriers using the same SIM. The matter of you switching the phone you use would not cause a problem. If you took the SIM from the eBay model and tried getting it to work with Telus, you'd most likely need an unlock code before it would work.

One more question about unlocking a phone, do you unlock the phone or the SIM? Since I will be swapping my i830 SIM into the i860 can I unlock the SIM now so when my phone arrives I

you unlock the phone, not the sim, yes no matter what you will need to unlock the i860 because it is not currently offered from telus to the best of my knowledge. someone will respond that has the unlock code, i know it is out there.

You should be able to just turn off the phone and then turn it back on to reregister on the telus network. You might have to also dial a 1 to make calls from telus to another number
