Nextel i860 message problems????

i have a i860 an when i person sends me a text message WHILE im doing something on my phone, sometimes when im not, and i go to read the message, it first says ...downloading, then its says FAILED TO RECIEVE MESSAGE, so i have to go an tell dat person to resend watever dey were sending in this first place, now imagine doing this ALMOST everytime u get a text, it is annoying as hell, why does this happen??
 
it might be something to do with your plan, also if a picture is in the message see if your memory might be full or something so it cant fit it on the phone.
