I have both the Garmin IQue 3600 and the Palm T|X. Although the SD card is swapable, there is a lot of software loaded to the 3600 O/S that doesn't directly transfer into the T|X. In addition, the Palm Desktop for the 3600 is unique so it can interface with MapSource and all the mapping software.
Garmin spent tons of money and time to get a GPS to work with a proprietary modified Palm unit. I would not expect a standard Palm O/S to have a chance.
