newbie question about installing java app

I have a Nokia 5230 Nuron (S/60 v5).

I downloaded a program and it has 2 versions: J2SE (single jar file) and MIDP2.0 with a jar file along with a bunch of others.

What's the difference between the two? Which one should I use?

Last but not least, how do I install them? Thanks for reading!

You have to sync them in via PC/Ovi suite. I think you want the J2SE. I've installed a couple and they work. I just don't remember using MIDP2.0. Mine were JAR and JAD. The JAD just might be install instructions. I'm not a Java programmer, so I don't really know.

Does MIDP2.0 mean J2ME?

Also, how do I copy file from PC to my 5230? I see the phone symbol in "My Computer" but it seems to be read only. I can only copy files out, not in.

(Edit: I managed to send files over bluetooth. It seems the J2SE is for PC. I need to use MIDP2.0 one)

Try here: http://www.getjar.com/
I think they have advice, and you need a file manager of some type. Do you have Nokia OVI or PC Suite? They both have install to phone. You open the suite, tell it to install app, the phone will ask if you want to install. I was looking for a way to do this without using Nokia's software and couldn't find it.
