New Verizson/Samsung Galaxy owner

I already nown the Verizon Samsung Omnia II, and while its a cool Smartphone, it isn't exactly tailored for the internet. Well actually it IS, ande very much so, but you get periodic issues like certain web pages loading funny, lock up, etc. Its not a PC, its a smartphone that does PC things. So I was always interested in a tablet. You know, not exactly a laptop, but somewhere in between. More powerful than a smartphone, but still with the portability to carry it around in your pocket. So I'm in the Verizon store, and I noticed the Galaxy Tab was selling for a buck ninety-nine with a contract! A Verizon rep POUNCED on me as I was checking it out :). He was saying how it worked, $199 only temporarily, etc., putting a ton of pressure on me to get it. I'm thinkin' about, thinkin' about it...I needed more time to think about it, so I thought up an excuse to escape the Verizon rep's clutches and leave the store. I visited another Verizon store, and there it was again, Galaxy, $199. This store had an entirely different strategy than the all out aggression of the the previous store, giving me way more time to think about it. :). You sign in the computer for an appointment. The rep said the deal runs out in a couple days, which I knew was total BS, but I was gonna get it anyway :). This is probably the coolest device I've ever had. First all, the size. If I'm wearing shorts with oversized pockets, it fits in snuggly. WOW, I dont need a bug to carry it around most times. This is my introduction to the google Android OS I seeing on TV, and I'm impressed. The internet pages load just as fast as my DSL desktop at home! Its awesome how you can enlarge the pages with the pinch motion on the screen. I have access to BOTH the Android AND Verizon apps store, for thousands of apps. Theres a couple movie and tv rent/own apps here as well. With the important buttons lined along the bottom, its VERY easy to operate. No problem getting back to the home screen, opening menus, etc. Its the best alarm clock in the house too :D! I place it on the corner of the bed, and its LOUD enough to wake me up every time! The best thing about it is the HUGE screen, compared to the smartphones. Wallpaper and photos looks good on a smartphone, but it looks absolutely gorgeous on a 7" tablet screen! Man, I saved the Mighty Thor movie poster, where Thor's back is turned? Looks awesome on this big screen! Theres a game called N.O.V.A. included here-which is a blatant clone of Halo, which is a good thing :)-that is "high def" and looks beautiful on this big screen. I dont know why I didn't get this device sooner. I can load bus schedules, I loaded the Galaxy manual PDF :), there's a million things I can do with this. Word of advice: make sure you put that screen protector on...I had to in my pocket today, and I was getting rid of an old stormdoor after Home Depot put the new one in. Dunno if it was that or not, but I pulled the tab out my pocket, and I noticed it had a deep 1.5 inch crack running sdown from the top of the screen! I thought, OMG, I JUST got it...I have the one-year insurance, but I'm still outta 80 bucks. I lifted the protector film off the screen to inspect the damage, and to my surprize, only the thick protector film was sliced, and the screen underneath was unharmed! PHEW :)...all I needed was the replacement protector that came with the 3-pack. So I can tell you without a doubt that they work :D!
