New Verizon Wireless Smart phone?

I have two questions regarding the new enV Touch I got for Christmas:

1) Do I have unlimited texting to any other verizon user? Even if for my normal plan, I only have 250 texts a month?

2) I did not pay for internet, but I have access to it. My friend says that since I got a smart phone, it requires me to pay for internet, even if I don't use it at all. Is this true?
 
1) Yes, you have unlimited texts to Verizon users.

2) The enV Touch cannot be activated without a data plan. However, be very, very careful. You have either 25mb or 75mb. That's absolutely nothing. It's going to be very easy to run up data overages.
