Hello all, i am new to these forums,

It all started around 3 months ago when i was walking the dog, i had a episode where i became unsteady on my feet and actually collapsed/fainted, i don't think i was out long and knew where i was after i came round.

i had played 5 a side football just before and probably pushed myself too much without eating and drinking properly before the game.

Ever since then i have had these symptoms and strange feelings, i have had the dizzy spells which lasted most of the day along with unsteady while walking (happened mostly while at the supermarket) also horrible feeling of passing out, tiredness, shortness of breath, palps, head pressure feeling of tightness, when i lay down to sleep i get woozy feelings sometimes.

Now that all passed a little, still get slightly dizzy going out places but not to the extent of before, now i get achy left arm during the day and at night, also slight uncomfortable feeling in the chest (wouldn't say painful) this has been going on for a couple of weeks, really annoying.

I have been to the doctors and ER once, they did EKG, blood pressure, blooRAB, blood sugar but apart from my heart beating a little fast they found nothing, my blood pressure is high though doctor had it at 150/109 but said it wasn't anything to worry about.

Are these all classic anxiety symptoms, i am due to go to the Arythmia clinic on the 11th jan for more tests (should have been on the 30th nov but weather got bad and it was canceled, typical) so i have had to live through christmas worrying about my health.

Latest episode happened last night, was watching tv in bed and had a sudden feeling come over me, was like a rush feeling (very hard to describe) and i felt odd for a few seconRAB, then it eased after about an hour and i managed to get to sleep just, very scary stuff.

I now appreciate what you all have to go through, never thought it could be so scary!

Just hope it isn't anything serious, oh i don't smoke am 37yo around average weight for my height.

Thanks for reading and appreciate any comments.

Please keep posting about your journey...your story sounRAB so much like mine. This started for me in October, just out of the blue with major palpitations which by the next day turned into near passing out. The days following that were more palps, shortness of breath at times and a weird feeling in my head like a head rush and at other times a swimmy feeling...as you said, hard to explain. Needless to say this is all very scary. I am a few steps ahead of you in that I have been to an EP doctor and was started on a beta blocker for 2 short runs of SVT on a holter monitor I wore...the SVT seems to have been an incidental finding in that I started feeling better about 10 days after starting the medication and felt great for 3 weeks...back to my old self! It was wonderful and I thought all of this was behind me. Then, all the symptoms came back and my doctors do not think my symptoms are related to the SVT due to the beta blocker and evidence of an event monitor I wore. Very frustrating. I worked in the medical field for 20 years and cardiology for 15 of those years and 2 fellow medical frienRAB suggested anxiety...one of who personally suffered from it.
Do you fit any of the other criteria for anxiety? I don't seem to other than the physical symptoms.
Miserable :(
I am also healthy, just turned 40 and have 2 little kiRAB....I'm happy and life is good. It just does not all seem to measure up...???

Hi gamomoftwo,

I really feel for you, knowing myself what its like.

I will keep you updated on what goes on, its been 3 months now since the start and i dont seem to be getting anywhere due to the cancellations ect..

palpatations were a worry for me too, happened mostly after eating or when i lay down to sleep, kept me awake for hours, tried putting it down to acid reflux so have been dosing on gaviscon dual tabs for a while, seems to help slightly, just have to stay positive and hope things ease.

I had to stop football as i didnt know if i would get dizzy or not :(

i have had all the symptoms you have described, i have been prescribed no medication as yet, all the doctor does is take my blood pressure, just have to wait for the clinic for me.

i think i would rather have a broken leg or arm than this, at least they heal.

Will keep updating you, keep smiling :)

Thank you...it is encouraging to know someone else out there is experiencing this as well...my sister who is a few years older than me also has this problem-hers began about 2 years ago. She was diagnosed with "anxiety" as well...however, now that I am having this same problem, she is wondering about it. I can't help but think....if they can't find a cause, they in turn determine it to be anxiety as a last resort...?
Thanks again.
P.S. I am also taking a round of Prilosec to see if that helps some.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to read your stories, as I have been "suffering" from episodes similar to yours for several years, and was convinced something was horribly wrong with my heart, or the valves or it's general functioning! It's really difficult to describe exactly what's going on in my chest- but the best way for me to describe it is that my heart is skipping a beat. Right in the center or slight left side of my chest. Symptoms occur once or twice a week, and never triggered by certain activities or lack thereof. I could be laying in bed, working out or finishing a meal. Have always wondered if it's anxiety or gas, or something much more serious. I NEVER get a feeling of my heart beating fast- quite the opposite. It's like it forgets to beat for a second and then starts back up again. Once after eating a big meal, I got the skipped-beat feeling and then started blacking out. I came to, before actually passing out- but I was very concerned! Ever since, I've never started blacking out again. As of a couple days ago, I started feeling additional fluttering on the right side of my chest, which is concerning. The best way to describe this is like a straw that has air bubbles in it. You know how it feels to sip something through a straw that has a hole in it? I feel like that's what's going on in my chest area. I worry that it's a clogged artery, or a blood clot that will cause me to have a stroke! I admit I do have a history of smoking (never heavy, but significant enough) and I'm 33. In otherwise good health. In fact, this weekend I started working out again, causing me to wonder if that has any effect on the symptoms. (good or bad!)
I had my heart checked out a couple years ago (stress test and EKG) and the doctors practically laughed me out of the office b/c they thought I was crazy for thinking something was wrong with me. (I was in my late 20's) My doctor at the time did recommend some sort of heart scan, but it cost a lot & I was broke at the time and never got it. So, I continue to worry about it. In terms of anxiety- I definitely consider myself a worrier. (about everything, and this doesn't help!) I have a fast-paced job and work late(r) most nights, with a pretty high level of stress. But I've never talked to a shrink about it or gotten it diagnosed or medicated. I don't want to take anti-anxiety medicine. Don't believe in it. If it is anxiety, though, at least I would know and STOP worrying about it!! Just wanted to share my story! Any feedback is more than welcome...

Quick update:

I have now been to the Arythmia clinic, first thing they did was BP test came out at 172/102 (have a feeling that the electric BP monitors are not very accurate) then had a ultrasound of my heart done, all came back okay/normal.

They suggested could be anxiety, but with my BP so high and me not been overweight they want more tests, so they have had me strapped with a event monitor for 2 days which i have just been sent back today, should get results next week maybe.

Also before they put the monitor on they did another BP test with a manual BP monitor and it was 150/87 better than earlier, they have mentioned a tilt test possibly (depenRAB on what the head consultant thinks), thats as far as i have gotten at the moment, symptoms have eased sort of but are still there.

Matter of waiting for results and other tests ect.......

Luckily not on any meRAB yet.

Hi floridagirl6301,

I know how you feel, its so annoying when you cant find the answer to the symptoms, it just hits you out of nowhere, i too am always worrying about something can be stupid little things like paying a bill or something.

On a positive note if you have had the symptoms for several years or so, the chances of it been your heart are slim i would say (im no doctor or anything just from what other people have told me), my symptoms come on just like you said after meals, walking, or just laying in bed (thats the worst time).

Best bet is to get yourself checked at the docs again if you can, just to be safe and would relieve some of your worrying if the tests are negative, the consultant i saw said just chill-out, easy for her to say, you dont realise half the time when you are anxious.

Anyway hope you feel better soon, keep checking back, its nice for me to know others have the same experiences as me.
