I am a 42 year old female. For the last 6 weeks I have had daily nausea and that burning feeling in the back of my throat, and some gas ( no actual chest pain.) The nausea gets worse when i move around, in the afternoon, or when I am under stress. I have treid Pepcid, Prilosec, and my doctor put me on Nexium, which didn't help. I am now on Protonix ( for 2 days). i am otherwise healthy.

Does this sound like Acid reflux? An ulcer? I finally got a referral to a Gastroenterologist for a "consult." What quesitons should I ask? What tests should I make sure he does?

I am job hunting and the nausea always gets worse before an interview, so I need help.

Thanks,

wren

Be sure and write down questions before you go to the doctor, because people usually forget what they wanted to ask when they are apprehensive when he/she has an appointment with a physician.

You wanted to know what questions to ask...you are the one who knows best what your concerns are. Try not to worry about it. Get a good night's sleep before the appointment, and remeraber the physician is there to help you.

I think a lot of your nausea is stress-related, since you said it is exacerbated prior to a job interview. Practice your interview with a friend, and take some deep breaths before the actual interview. Tell yourself it won't be the end of the world if you don't get that one particular job...you can apply elsewhere. Good luck!

Hmm perhaps it could be an ulcer. I think that is quite possible. I have been nauseated lots lately too and lots of heartburn. Nexium is working for the heartburn but still having abdominal discomfort, nausea and cramping. Doctor put me on sucralet to help coat my stomach and any possible ulcers or irritation. I would definitly see your specialist. He may try you on some additional medications. I think an acid reducer like nexium or maybe trying a different one is important if you have heartburn but you may need additional medication to help you or perhaps diet change, stress reduction strategies. Or he may go ahead and order perhaps a scope or barium swallow. good luck!!
