Just got my TX yseterday, had a T5 for 2 months, dropped it, lcd broke. and did not get the warranty :(
Anyway, I noticed the TX does not have the home icon on the task bar, have to use the buttons, is there a way to add the icon or was it just not added at all.

Tanx in advance for any replies

There is a home button application for T|X at http://www.mobile-stream.com

Other Palm forums have added information regarding this application as well.

I've been using this along with ButtonsEx which allow remapping the "Home" hard key to another application or launcher if that's what you prefer.

When using this you lose the "immediate" find function now present on the display, but all you need do is tap and hold the home icon and Find, along with the previous recent used applications is displayed.

(I am not affilliated with mobile-steam)

I was trying to figure out the what the advantage was for having to home Icon on the task bar so I opened the T5 user guide and reviewed it. So far I cannot see any real advantage except for the convenience when using the stylus. I guess they had to remove something to make room for the Wi-Fi Icon. :(

But all this leads me to the next question.... on the T5 the right button defaults to a "Files" application which looks like it does everything I do with "Filez" add-on app. So what happened to this application on the T5 and why isn't it on the T|X? I can't find it on my T|X (maybe I'm blind). All I can find is the semi-useless and disjointed Add/Copy/Delete/Info functions on the menu drop-down on the Applications screen.

Sure would be nice to have all those features in a single app... :D

Thanx for the info fnagle, it really did help. Nice having the "Home Icon" on task
bar, my T5 had it and it was just a convient thing :) :)

;) ;)

The main advantage to the home button on the T5 was that it was also a quick launch for the last programs that had been launched. Rather than having to navigate through the launcher you can just tap and hold the home button and you got a list of recently used programs.

The "files" application on the T5 was necessary because of the builtin SD card and to be able to function with the T5 as a "mounted" drive while connected to your PC. There was no other program on the T5 that would be able to access this builtin 256 SD card. And since that feature is not part of the TX - hence the reason it's not included.

Besides FileZ is much better at doing what you want - trust me after 10+ year's of Palming - Filez is one of the first apps installed on my new devices.

And to Thundrbird1 - welcome. You'll find this site useful and typically we are nice. If not - let me know and as a moderator - I'll delete the not so nice posts.
;) :)
