New T3 User

Good Evening everyone,

I am new to the Palm world. I previous had a Toshiba e755 PPC. The reason for the switch is an "apple laptop" which I purchased some months ago. So my hubby purchased the T3 for me...wuhoo!:D

So where do I start. It's still in the plastic because I'm a little intimidated. My hubby has a T2 (I think that's what he has) but I want to wow him with my knowledge;) , thus my reason for coming to a discussion board.

I read a few of the threads and the language seemed so foreign to me. Is there a beginners site where I can go to learn all I need to for my palm? I'm an english teacher and I'm looking for some creative programs for my Palm. I also have a 21 month old daughter and I would like some fun apps for her to play with when we're out.

Any suggestions/help?

Tamarat:p

Hi Tamarat,

Welcome to the world of Palm powered PDAs. :D

I recommend you read the manual and understand how to install applications, open stuff, reset and get to know the basics of your new T3.

Please visit my website. Its a website about Palm OS5 and has a collection of the best freeware on the web. A page you might like to start reading is.. What Is OS5? - a page I put together to try and help beginners. (Hopefully ;) )

If you like my site, please tell as many people as possible about Hand2Hand5 - www.hand2hand5.plus.com. :D

Mmm... after fun apps? :) Then visit PDArcade which as a PPC fan I'm sure you'll have visited. It has many links to really great games - mostly shareware. Its a very good site :)

I hope this helps Tamarat,

We're all here to help -- and it won't be long before you're helping US!! Don't be intimidated!! Most importantly don't look for "beginner sites." You'll be a "beginner" for about 3 hours and then won't feel challenged.

This is THE BEST SITE BAR NONE for Palm knowhow - we've got some REAL stone-cold PROFESSIONALS on here including MODERATORS that could write volumes themselves . . . . just check in daily, search the heck out of the site for "buzzwords" you want to know about, and most important . . . .

DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK "Dumb" QUESTIONS . . . There aren't any

WELCOME

You will soon be a pro. Feel free to pm us when ever you need advise or help. you can find Private Message function in the user cp area.

Thanks everyone.

I will continue to ask questions as I go along. I downloaded the update and visited the recommended site.

Question: I have a scandisk SD card and I've read where many of you are unhappy due to the product response to your device. But I don't want to buy another one so will the update fix all glitches?

Thanks again everyone!

Use it. If you've installed the update, use the card and if you don't have any problems, then all's right with the world. When we speak of "this and that problem," we must consider how many tens of thousands of the things are sold.

I had 2 good Sandisks and one BAD, and of course the BAD was the more expensive 64MB at the time; I find the Panasonics to be much faster - but it depends what you're using it for. I transfer files from a Card Reader to the card, and was amazed at how fast the Panasonic stopped "blinking," and I never get the "HEY! We weren't done yet and some of your data wasn't saved" message. Get the use out of the one you have and who knows, it might last as long as you need it to. Depending on its size, you may find REAL SOON that a bigger one is needed anyway!!

If it does for any reason fail, you can protect yourself by purchasing a $20 card reader and BACKING EVERYTHING ON THAT CARD up to a folder on the PC called "SDbu" or whatever. If you have a CD burning program, burn a CD of your Palm archive and backup folders and the SD Card folder. Now, no matter what, you couldn't lose your "stuff."

Tamarat,

I like you was slightly intimidated by some of the threads at first, but as Paul says that'll last only a visit or so. Do not be worried about asking questions, as in my book there is no such thing as a stupid question....stupid answers, well that's another thing! If you have a question, I can almost guarantee that someone else (most probably me...) hasn't got the guts to ask. That's the great thing about usernames!

I for one have looked around at other sites, and have been quite surprised at how the advice that appears here, appears there as well.....

One last thing, you'll instinctively know how good advice is, don't be fooled by high post counts (take that from someone who was and took quite a while to sort things out).
