New Synchro? 5-speed 1996 honda civic!?

I am trying to buy a car (1996 honda civic) and the guys is telling me there is a "notch in third gear, but if you let the synchro catch up it goes smooth" what does this mean? and how much is a new synchro? he is telling me thats what it needs and i have no clue!!! HELP! :P
 
What he said sounds right. Call your local honda dealer for pricing. and... in leyman's terms... if you stick your hand between the blades of your ceiling fan it causes it to abruptely stop and makes the fan make bad noises which eventually (and quickly) will cause the motor to go out. That's kinda what's going on here just replace your hand with the synchros and the fan blade with the clutch plate and the fan motor with your transmission.
