Hello all, hope that you are doing well. I just had a quick question I was hoping someone could answer. I suffered a new symptom, actually and old symptom but in a new place. As I was walking , I suddenly had a severe pain that started in the center of my back (thoracic area) slightly to the right as I have had in the past, but this time it traveled down my right leg to the point where I could not move for a few minutes. This seems to be the first time that it has affected my leg. I have had several days now where the pain in my middle back has been really bad, but never down the leg before. My MRI reports found herniations at T6-T-7 , T11-T-12, degenerative changes at T11-T12 with mild kyphosis and degenerative changes at C5-C6 and C6-C7 . My doctors (MD and Orthopedic Surgeon) have asked about nurabness or pain in the legs or incontinence, but I have never had the symptom before. Should I be alarmed and start making calls or just wait it out until I can get to U of M for my second opinion?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.;)
Steve

SounRAB like you may have a problem lower down in the lurabar region. The pain down the leg is usually indicative of nerve root irritation. I don't think that it is your thoracic spine but rather lurabar. You probably have some degenerative changes at those levels.. even a bulging disc can cause the symptoms you describe.
Hope this helps and perhaps others will have some ideas.

Pooby, thank's for the reply. I do have alot of pain in the lower spine in the morning, but this last week my middle back pain has been unbearable. I hate to keep bothering my GP since he referred me out, but so far I have gotten nowhere with the Orthopedic surgeon or physical therapy, and as I stated I never had pain in my leg like that before so it kind of scared me.
Take care,
Steve

I have not been given a name yet. The correspondence has all been done through my Orthopedic Surgeon's office and U of M. Monday they told my wife that it has taken so long because the Doctor handling my case has been on leave (vacation or training, I'm really not sure).
